PASTORS WHO SERVED

Although St. Matthew’s first official pastor wasn’t called and installed until 1874, three pastors from surrounding churches served the Lemont Lutheran community by conducting baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals. 
Rev. Gustav Adolph Barth (Visiting Pastor from First Immanuel Lutheran, Chicago, IL) – 1869-1872
    St. Matthew’s first recorded baptism was conducted in January 1870.
Rev. Herman W. Querl (Visiting Pastor from Trinity, Willow Springs (now Burr Ridge), IL) – June 1870-June 1874
    St. Matthew’s first recorded marriage ceremony was conducted in December 1871.
    St. Matthew’s first recorded funeral was conducted in March 1872.
    St. Matthew’s first recorded confirmation class was confirmed in April 1874.
